Matt Moran AM

Matt Moran is a renowned Australian chef, restaurateur, farmer and author. Over his 40 year career in food, he has run some of the countries most celebrated restaurants, hosted popular TV shows, written best-selling cookbooks, and won awards across his endeavours.

Since opening his first restaurant at just 22, Matt Moran has continuously reshaped the nation’s culinary landscape with renowned and beloved venues like Aria, Chiswick, and Chophouse. His relentless pursuit of excellence has made him a trailblazer in the industry, inspiring both peers and patrons with every endeavour.

Matt is a fourth generation NSW farmer with long-held property in the Central Tablelands (the Moran family farm), with 1000 acres that produce sustainable and ethically raised grass-fed beef, lamb, and free-range pork. The enduring bond between land and table continues to spark his creativity and fuel his mission to inspire household cooks and bring awareness to the pivotal role played by Australian farmers.

Matt Moran champions food sustainability and security through his “Paddock to Plate” philosophy, regenerative farming, and partnerships targeting food waste.  He loves to talk about sustainable farming, local produce and why supporting Australian farmers matters.

Matt is the author of 5 best-selling books. 

In June 2022, Matt was appointed Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the tourism and hospitality industries, and to charitable organisations.

In 2025 Matt launched his own product My Perfect Stock .  There are three gourmet stock products in the range – Chicken, Beef and Vegetable.  My Perfect Stock is stocked in major supermarkets across Australia like Woolworths, Coles and a collection of independent retailers.
