Biography
Jessica ‘Jess’ Hull is an incredibly talented middle-distance runner who has represented Australia at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Diamond League series.
Jess spent four years at the University of Oregon on an athlete scholarship and in that time earned seven All-American honours and was a four-time NCAA Champion.
In 2019, she joined Pete Julian’s professional running group, signed a global long-term deal with Nike and attended her first World Championships in Doha, where she narrowly missed the final.
The following year, Jess set two Australian records in the 1500m and 5000m races in Boston and Monaco respectively while also qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics.
At the Games, she reached the final of the 1500m event after setting an Australian record time of 3.58.81 in the semi-final.
To kick off her 2023 campaign, she won Bronze in the Mixed Relay at the 2023 Bathurst World Cross Country Championships, before winning the National 1500m, 3000m and 5000m titles, with the 3000m in a National record of 8:31.81. This set her up for another fantastic European season where she again made the final in the 1500m at the World Championships.
In July 2024, Jess broke the Oceania 1500m record by 5 seconds and broke the 2,000m world record which put her in a fantastic position for her scond Olympic games a few weeks later.
In Paris, she achieved what no other Australian woman has ever done and what had not been done by an Australian (male or female) in over 60 years by winning the silver medal in the Women’s 1500m at the Paris Olympics.
