James Castrission – Australian Explorer, Motivational & Keynote Speaker
James Castrission is a leading Australian motivational speaker, keynote speaker, and world-record-holding explorer, known for delivering powerful, inspiring presentations that combine remarkable storytelling with breathtaking expedition footage.
As one of Australia’s most accomplished modern explorers, James has repeatedly pushed the limits of human endurance, resilience, and teamwork—lessons he now brings to conferences, corporate events, and leadership forums across Australia and internationally.
Record-Breaking Antarctic Expedition
In 2012, James made global history by completing the longest unsupported polar expedition of all time. Alongside his best mate, Justin “Jonesy” Jones, he became the first person in over 100 years of polar exploration to ski from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back without assistance.
Over 89 gruelling days, the pair skied 2,275 kilometres, hauling every piece of food, fuel, and equipment needed to survive in the harshest environment on Earth. The expedition redefined what was thought possible in extreme exploration and stands as one of the greatest endurance achievements in modern history.
First Kayak Crossing of the Tasman Sea
Four years earlier, James completed another world first by kayaking 3,318 kilometres across the Tasman Sea without assistance. Battling 10-metre swells, violent storms, extreme sleep deprivation, and constant hunger, James and his expedition partner became the first kayakers to cross the Tasman Sea and set the record for the longest transoceanic double-kayak expedition.
When they finally reached the shores of New Zealand, they were physically and mentally exhausted—but deeply changed by the experience.
Corporate Leadership & Team Development Speaker
In 2013, James founded MyAdventure Group, delivering Australia’s premier adventure-based corporate development and leadership programs. Drawing directly from lessons learned in Antarctica and the open ocean, James helps organisations develop:
