Biography
Dan Richardson brings more than 25 years of experience in cyber security across the public and private sector in New Zealand. As the Executive Director for Strategy and Risk at CyberCX, Dan leads a team of experts across New Zealand whose skillsets span cyber security consulting to governance, risk and compliance.
Dan is the former Chief Information Security Officer at Westpac NZ and has held senior roles in the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a part of GCSB.
Having worked in roles across both, Dan has deep understanding of navigating the public and private sector intersection when it comes cyber security and a deteriorating global threat landscape. He views are regularly sort out from media including the New Zealand Herald, Stuff, RNZ and The Post, and has provided commentary on topics ranging from banning DeepSeek Ai on government devices to New Zealand’s forthcoming cyber security strategy.
